These are specially designed Atmospheric Condensers which condense ammonia into liquid state from gaseous state. The robustly constructed ammonia base Atmospheric Condensers that we offer are of high efficiency and durability. 

The pipes used for atmospheric condensers are of 2” TATA or equivalent make heavy pipe and every pipe will have the embossed mark of the manufacturer.  The pipe is of High Frequency Induction Welded (HFIW) type and the condenser over all length will be 20’.  Each condenser will be provided with 2” size Globe valve at inlet top and ¾” Globe Valve at outlet.

In evaporative condensers suggested water quantity as per capacity is pumped to the water distribution system at the top of the evaporative condenser. The water is distributed over the wet deck fill by means of equally distributed water spray. Simultaneously ,air is drawn in through the air inlet louvers at the base of the evaporative condenser and travels upward through the wet deck fill opposite the water flow. A small portion of water is evaporated which removes the heat from the remaining water. The warm moist air is drawn to the top of the condenser by the fan and discharged to the atmosphere. The cooled water drains to the basin at the bottom of the condenser and is again pumped back to the distribution system.

Horizontal shell and tube ammonia condenser, which are available in different capacity ranging from 5TR to 400 TR. A shell and tube condenser (heat exchanger) is the most common type of heat exchanger used in refrigeration industry.

Shell and Tube Condensers are having two divisions one is shell and other is Tubes. Here water runs through the tubes, and ammonia vapour flows over the tubes (through the shell) to transfer heat between the two fluids. For this purpose seamless/ ERW or Rolled shell are used for shell. And Seamless/ ERW tubes are used for Tubes.

Different Pass Arrangements are made by providing baffles in the water heads, like two, four, six and eight pass designs are common because the fluid can enter and exit on the same side. This makes construction much simpler and helps to limit the tube length.

The ammonia vapours enter the shell and get condensed by rejecting the heat to the circulating water in the tubes there are baffles directing flow through the shell side so the vapour does not take a short cut through the shell side leaving ineffective capacity.

These shell and tube condensers are tested at a hydrostatic pressure of 27 kg/sq. cm gauge (380 psig).

These shell and tube condensers are also made with SS tubes and SS water heads where the water is saline or very hard so the tubes can be cleaned easily with chemicals.

Semi welded PHEs are an optimum solution in applications where gaskets are not compatible with one of the media. Our semi-welded PHEs are assembled with laser welded modules. These are very useful for applications such as:

Ammonia condensers.

Semi-welded PHEs overcome this limitation! These are as flexible as gasketed heat exchangers while enhancing the application range for PHEs for use with aggressive fluids and gases, such as ammonia or aggressive process chemicals where suitable elastomers are not available to act as a sealant between the plates. In the case of ammonia refrigeration, the reduced volume results in significant savings. 

This type of heat exchanger uses a unique approach. Alternating channels are laser welded. Aggressive media (for example Ammonia) flows in the welded channels. Non-aggressive media (like brine or water) passes through gasketed channels. Despite partial welded construction, the unit can easily be disassembled to replace gaskets or to take care of other maintenance. Like all VARALKA products, they are also highly efficient, reliable, and easy to operate and maintain.
